Wood Care
How to care for your Cherrywood table
Solid Vs Veneer
Every Cherrywood table is handcrafted from solid hardwood — not veneer or manufactured material.
Solid wood is organic and continues to move naturally with changes in humidity and temperature. This is part of its character and beauty.

Daily care is simple:
-
Wipe spills promptly
-
Use a soft cloth with water (avoid harsh cleaners or chemicals)
-
Don’t leave standing water on the surface
-
Clean and dry after meals

A Cherrywood table doesn’t need polishing products or special treatments — just use it, enjoy it, and live around it.
Seasonal Care / Environment
Solid wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity.

For best results:
-
Keep indoor humidity between 35%–45%
-
Keep temperature around 70–72°F (21–22°C)
-
Avoid sudden humidity changes (e.g., placing right beside heating vents)

Small cracks or movement in the wood over time are normal and part of the natural aging of real hardwood.
Solid wood furniture has a life of its own — that’s the beauty of it.
Finishing & Refinishing
We finish our tables with a durable, natural oil finish — not a plastic or chemical coating.

What this means for you:
-
Scratches and marks can be repaired
-
The surface can be refreshed — not replaced
-
Your table will develop a warm patina over the years

Most tables only need a fresh oil application every 1–3 years, depending on use.

We can refinish or re-oil your table anytime. Just reach out.
Wood care FAQ
Do I need coasters or placemats?
Not always, but they help minimize water rings and heat marks.
Can I put hot pans or dishes on the table?
We recommend using trivets to protect against the heat.
What happens if the table gets scratched or stained?
Scratches and marks can be repeaired because your table is solid hardwood, not veneer.
Why can cracks or movement appear over time?
Marks and movement are a normal part of owning a solid wood piece. Embrace the perfect imperfections that come with owning something that once lived.
How can I clean the table?
Use a soft damp cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners because they remove the oil finish.
Can the table be refinished in the future?
Yes, solid hardwood can be refinished as many times as needed.
General FAQ
How does the custom process work?
We start with a conversation. You share your ideas, we discuss your space, and together we choose the slab and design details. Once everything is finalized, we build your table by hand and deliver it to your home or business.
Can I choose the exact slab?
Yes. You can choose the exact slab your table is built from — including size, character, grain pattern, and edge profile.
How long does a custom table take?
Most builds take 8–12 weeks once the slab has finished drying. Some slabs spend years drying before they’re ready to work with — we don’t rush the part that matters.
What types of wood do you use?
We work exclusively with locally salvaged Ontario hardwood — walnut, maple, oak, ash, and others depending on what we’ve reclaimed
How much does a custom dining table cost?
Pricing depends on size, wood species, and base design. Since no table is like another, all pricing is custom. Start your conversation today to get details.
Do you deliver and install?
Yes. We handle delivery and installation throughout Ontario and the GTA.
Shipping beyond Ontario is evaluated case-by-case.
What if my table needs maintenance in the future?
We offer refinishing and re-oiling, and can refresh your table on-site. Real wood can be repaired and renewed — that’s one of the reasons it lasts a lifetime
Do you offer returns?
Because every piece is custom-built, all orders are final once production begins. We work closely with you during design to ensure everything is perfect before construction starts.
